Vancouver Housing Non-profits Corruption

British Columbia spends a massive amount of taxpayer money on allegedly helping homeless people by funding housing outreach groups and various nonprofit orgs.

I did a fairly thorough investigation into what these groups are actually doing for homeless people and the results are not good.

I hhave reached out to the office of my local MLA, Spencer Chandra Herbert because his office has been really good in the past about setting up a meeting with him to discuss issues like this. Unfortunately it seems the staff at his office have changed and are blocking access to our public representative.

Here’s the letter I sent:

Hi Spencer,

For several years now I’ve been struggling with housing insecurity because I have a disability (PWD), and can’t afford market rent. Thankfully some friends have been helping me out, so I only had to live in a tent in the park for a few months, but there has been a truly disturbing trend that I have found with every single nonprofit housing outreach I have been while seeking help.

Carnegie was a bizarre place because they always have a lineup out front, and while standing in the line several of the other people in line were making comments that suggested they weren’t actually homeless and had been somehow incentivized to stand in line pretending that the nonprofit group was somehow helping them. Once I did get in and talked to someone they set me up in an SRO right away which I initially thought was great. After my unit kept getting broken into by someone with a key, I started collecting evidence because whoever was breaking in was putting strange chemicals that turned out to be bedbug pheromones on my toothbrush, spraying it on the floors, walls, in my water bottle even (I know it was the landlord, Rod Ramsay, who put it in my water bottle because he was the only one in the room while I left it unattended for a few minutes). It turns out the landlord and his cronies were actually breaking in and putting bedbugs right into my bed, which caused me some serious bites that I have photographic evidence of and forms part of an ongoing human rights complaint. When Ramsay realized that I was collecting evidence, he aggressively tried to discourage me from doing so. I suspect it was him and his gang who sent the guy with the knife to stab me, but he only ended up stabbing my door because I closed it quickly enough and phoned the police. After another assault and more evidence, Ramsay decided to pull strings at the Tenancy Branch to do an “emergency eviction” against me, whereby he alleged that I was somehow “threatening”. When the tribunal pressed him for specifics about what I said or did that was allegedly threatening, Ramsay said, quite literally that he wasn’t too sure of the specifics, I just said “this and that”, were his exact words. Seems totally ridiculous obviously, but the tribunal member was quite obviously involved in some sort of corruption network. As part of the disclosure that Ramsay provided me, he included a newspaper clipping that referenced an incident which was in fact an attempted murder that was committed against me by a hate group in another province. This suggested to me that Ramsay was one of the people who are involved in this genocidal hate group and that I was being intentionally singled out and targeted by him.

I went to the Coast housing outreach and the staff said that they were filing various forms that they had me fill out and sign privacy things etc. One of the main forms that was supposedly filed was a supplemental application with BC housing. After following up repeatedly with BC housing for several months, no form ever arrived. Every time I went back to ask what had happened, the staff member who had supposedly filed this form was no longer working there, and somebody else would do the same rigamarole. I went there every week or two for almost a year, often my friend Michelle would come with me, so she is a witness to the fact that this all occurred. After this kept happening I escalated my complaint to the manager who looked into my file. I was then told that there was no file on me there, that there was no record that I’d ever been there the several dozen times that I had taken time to go there and fill out countless forms. Zero record. All deleted. When I pressed to find out why this was, the emails went silent and I felt so exhausted that I just moved on to MPA society housing.

At MPA they wouldn’t give me the current listing for housing resources. For some reason they would only give me one from the year 2017 which seems very odd. When asked why this was, there was no reason given. It’s hard to say for sure, but it appears this may have been designed to trigger me because 2017 was the year that a new brunswick gang member carried out an attempted murder against me that severed nerves in my face so badly that part of it has no feeling still to this day. In any case, MPA SEEMED to help yet again putting me into a clearly corrupt SRO run by Atira. I couldn’t even spend a single night in there because they had it set up so that there was a bright light in an abandoned room across the alleyway shining right into my window and there was constant noise all night, and people kept breaking in, asking to see me, people who I’d never met and had no idea who they were. This is substantially similar to what was happening at the other SRO with people who didn’t even live there coming in to smash my door in the middle of the night. What MPA failed to mention to me was that my BC housing subsidized application was deleted because I was now considered “housed” even though I couldn’t sleep a single night in the place and literally went into a tent in Stanley park every single night. I have tweeted videos of this online.

I gave up for a while and couch surfed with friends, and when I went back to MPA, lo and behold, my file had been deleted, so I had to start over. The worker said they filed a supplemental application with BC housing, which I followed up on right away since every single other time workers had said this everywhere I went they had lied to me. Sure enough, BC housing had received no supplemental, so this time I went to MPA and got the copy of it personally and walked it over to BC housing.

I have been attending the Connective housing outreach on Fraser street for the last few months. When I first went there the place was deserted (which makes sense because it’s really hard for homeless people to get out there). A worker took my information, told me about this 600 dollar CBCHB subsidy that nobody else mentioned, which is for disabled people like me because there is no other way we can afford to have a roof over our heads. They promised me my information was sent to the person responsible for this program and I’d be getting a call in a couple weeks. A couple months later I followed up because I hadn’t heard from them. Guess what? MY ENTIRE FILE HAD BEEN DELETED!! YET AGAIN!!! This is no longer just a coincidence or two. This is a string of scientifically repeatable incidents which are clearly targeting me, and who knows how many other people are enduring this!!

When I went back to Connective, the place was literally PACKED, with people doing various things that strangely looked like they were trying really hard to look like they were busy, although one was just playing a video game on the computer so that was pretty obviously not someone who was there for housing outreach services.

So I have to ask my government about this, and you, Spencer specifically because I self-identify as being a member of the LGBTQ community. I have a disability, and in seeking help from the government services that this government is paying for, I am finding that not only are these government-sponsored services NOT helping me, but they are actually SIGNIFICANTLY hindering me, and in fact putting my LIFE IN DANGER!! Why is the government paying groups to commit acts of harassment and violence against me?!?!

How many other people is this happening to?

Has anyone done ANY kind of audit on these groups? As has become public knowledge now, the housing sector is notoriously corrupt, but in this case it seems to be far, far worse than simply greedy diversion of money. It seems that there is active hate group targeting taking place against vulnerable minorities like me at these places!!! I had to wait until I had enough evidence to be able to assert in good faith that the BC government is indeed paying organized criminal hate groups to block me from necessary housing services, and to commit acts of harassment and violence against me.

I’m not going to stand for this.

I’m giving you the opportunity to respond to me before I take my concerns and accusations and evidence public.

Regards,

Drew McPherson
